Janet Tai
It’s a foregone
Conclusion
That l am a loner
I move about
In town – alone;
It is very seldom
To see walking with
Company
Even groceries l
Handle it alone;
At my usual diner
I’m a regular
Patron and
I’m also very chummy
With the owners;
Has it always been
Like that?
Yup! More years than
I can count
It’s part of my life;
When l was much
Younger
It doesn’t bother me, but
With age, feelings change
I miss having company;
Company for chitchat
Company for
Joyful banter
Food tastes much better
Loneliness pushed aside;
If there are no
Changes at all
I’m afraid it
Shall remain
Lonely table just for one!
